Big Boy Bed

At the ripe age of 2, I'm sure we are in the same boat as many other parents when we are thinking of getting these toddlers out of those cribs (or our bed in our case) and into their very own Big Boy Bed!

We drug our feet a little on this. I'm not going to lie, cuddling with your baby every night is pretty awesome. I do partially blame us, but it's time to put our foot down.

We started working on the nursery, which also meant we were working on Zeke's new big boy bed and new room. Yes, he switched rooms. We decided on vintage cars and it has now turned in to vintage transportation to include cars, planes, trains, gas stations, etc.

My mom and I made a ridiculously huge mess painting one Friday night without laying down a tarp thing. Oops! White carpets are supposed to have blue spots all over them, right? Brandon was not too happy with us!

After the paint dried and the carpets were cleaned it was time to set up the big boy bed. We had a really difficult time deciding if we wanted to convert the crib or just buy a new bed. Did we want Zeke to have a full size mattress that we already had or a normal twin size mattress. We decided to convert the crib with the full size mattress we already had. It was probably the most cost effective and sensible idea to go with.

Since we haven't bought sheets or anything yet, please ignore the mismatched bedding and what not.

He has been doing great in it. At first he was waking up at 11, 1, and 5 every night or he would switch off with those times. I was originally picking him up and putting him in bed with us, but realized we were getting no where fast with my laziness so now I pick him up and head back to his room with him. It works good, except for the dreadful 5AM wake up calls requesting to go downstairs immediately. Hopefully time will fix that as well.

Once everything is hung in his room I'll give you a tour.

Cruisin'

One of my best friends is getting married so in getting married style we had to have the bachelorette party. Her and her fiancĂ© met on a cruise ship while both working, so going on a cruise was very fitting!  We took a short little 3 day (booze) cruise.  It was a lot of fun, my first time on ship/cruise, and I'm glad it's over.....wedding time!  Brandon had the kids all weekend and did an amazing daddy daycare job, even with activities and sports and all! He's super dad in my eyes!

Weekend project

I have had this vintage window frame for quite some time now.   I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it but have received lots of opinions and feedback on how to mount the picture. I had heard mount the picture on something sturdy before stapling it to the window, cut the picture into 6 boxes and have it touch the glass since there's a gap in the back, or my original and easy idea of just stapling the picture to the back of the window.  That is exactly what I did and it was the easiest thing ever. I cannot believe I waited so long to get it on and up!  I am completely obsessed with it and finally have a wedding picture up in our house. On to the next project......

Tour de Zeke's Room

We have been working on Zeke's room for what seems like forever. We painted and set up his big boy bed tons of blog posts ago.  His room is now presentable. I say presentable because we still have some things we would like to do, add, and buy!   We decided on a vintage vehicle theme. It went from vintage cars to vintage vehicles because, of course, the themes I choose are not so popular.  I found a vintage car print I liked on etsy but everyone said the fabric was too hard to make as sheets or the cut they had wasn't long enough for a full size bed. After all that I thought going with solid colors would be a great idea. I ordered a duvet cover, pillow shams, a bed skirt, and a blanket from Restoration Hardware. I got them home, put them on the bed with some navy blue sheets and thought "eh"!!! I kept it up for awhile but hated it!!! It was so boring, the down comforter wouldn't stay in place in the duvet cover, and it was so heavy and hard Zeke didn't want to ...
