Baby Zoie and Mama's Baby Shower

This weekend was just fabulous!

My mom threw an amazing and all out baby shower for this already spoiled baby girl in my belly!

When we first thought about the theme of the shower, we thought it would only be fitting to go along with the room theme which is very light pastel colors inspired by a couple vintage Barbie pictures I found (more on that later). After much deliberation, we decided to go with a more bold vintage Barbie theme with the colors being black, pink and white with a lot of Barbie silhouettes.

After a million trips to Target, Home Goods, Ikea, Etsy, Tai Pan, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby we had a nice stock pile to start the decorating and planning.

My mom decided to pretty much redecorate her house from floor to ceiling starting with drapery.  She switched out her current drapes for some black and white striped fabric. You would not believe how great the fabric looked without even being sewed!!!! They looked like they belonged.  She also changed a the pictures from her typical wine themed pictures to the vintage Barbie pictures going in Zoie's room.

We had the drapes as the background for the dessert table! There was so much themed Barbie decor and desserts that we wanted that to be the focal point.

The dessert table included the following:
A fabulous "Let Them Eat Cake" sign made by prettiestlittlethings
Cotton candy
Amazing fashionista Barbie designed sugar cookies made by bundlesofcookies
Chocolate covered Oreos with these awesome designs made by sweetiesbykim
Cake pops made by my mom (her business name coming soon)
Strawberry flavored salt water taffy
Food labels designed by tomkat
The best tasting almond champagne flavored Barbie cake made by Del Rio Cakes
Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with light pink pearls from our local grocer
Macaroons found at Home Goods
Cute custom plates with Barbie silhouettes made by dreamhousedolls

This is proof that there are so many great Etsy shops and things you can do to make the planning a little bit easier on the kitchen load.

The food table had a delicious array of miniature breakfast and lunch items including but not limited to miniature chicken and waffles, miniature pancake stacks, and even a take on your typical bagels and lox but in small phyllo cups.

We served up a vodka infused pink lemonade in mason jars with some cute twine and striped pink straws. You can do so much with twine and it is so classy and cute. We also had loads and loads of champagne on hand. We tend to forget about the non alcoholic drinkers and kids but thankfully we had some water, soda, and juice on hand!

The shower was beautiful, the company was great, the presents were much appreciated and will definitely come in handy once Zoie makes her appearance!

Thank you so much for everyone that made the baby shower memorable with a huge shoutout to my mama and her new company (coming soon hahaha)!

This Kirk Klan appreciates you all. :)

    1. Thank you!!!!! Everyone always searches and pays so much for mason jars. I always get mine in the canning section at the grocery store. They come in 2 sizes and are about $1 a piece.

    2. Oooh, that's so smart! I saw some at Whole Foods, but they were so expensive. I'll check Ralph's/Albertsons/Vons next time I'm there! Thanks, Whitney! :D

  2. This glamorous Baby Zoie and Mama's Baby Shower is just perfect my friend. The color scheme is just stunning. I also would be hosting the modern themed parties. I would be hosting the baby shower for my cousin and have to book the spacious event venues Chicago for this spring themed shower. Hoping to find a good location within my budget.

Cruisin'

One of my best friends is getting married so in getting married style we had to have the bachelorette party. Her and her fiancé met on a cruise ship while both working, so going on a cruise was very fitting!  We took a short little 3 day (booze) cruise.  It was a lot of fun, my first time on ship/cruise, and I'm glad it's over.....wedding time!  Brandon had the kids all weekend and did an amazing daddy daycare job, even with activities and sports and all! He's super dad in my eyes!

Weekend project

I have had this vintage window frame for quite some time now.   I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it but have received lots of opinions and feedback on how to mount the picture. I had heard mount the picture on something sturdy before stapling it to the window, cut the picture into 6 boxes and have it touch the glass since there's a gap in the back, or my original and easy idea of just stapling the picture to the back of the window.  That is exactly what I did and it was the easiest thing ever. I cannot believe I waited so long to get it on and up!  I am completely obsessed with it and finally have a wedding picture up in our house. On to the next project......

Tour de Zeke's Room

We have been working on Zeke's room for what seems like forever. We painted and set up his big boy bed tons of blog posts ago.  His room is now presentable. I say presentable because we still have some things we would like to do, add, and buy!   We decided on a vintage vehicle theme. It went from vintage cars to vintage vehicles because, of course, the themes I choose are not so popular.  I found a vintage car print I liked on etsy but everyone said the fabric was too hard to make as sheets or the cut they had wasn't long enough for a full size bed. After all that I thought going with solid colors would be a great idea. I ordered a duvet cover, pillow shams, a bed skirt, and a blanket from Restoration Hardware. I got them home, put them on the bed with some navy blue sheets and thought "eh"!!! I kept it up for awhile but hated it!!! It was so boring, the down comforter wouldn't stay in place in the duvet cover, and it was so heavy and hard Zeke didn't want to ...
