Oversized wannabe canvas prints

I have had so many questions on how to make these amazing and impactful pictures.  Here's a quick little how to!

To start I bought three 20x30 foam boards from Hobby Lobby! I think they were $1.99 a piece. Use your 40% off coupon brings it to $1.19 a piece!

After I brought these bad boys home, I searched my computer for some fabulous vertical pictures. This was probably the hardest part! So many pictures, too many choices, and a ton of horizontal pictures. I ended up choosing professional pictures that we have had taken throughout the years. I put them on a hard drive and headed over to Staples.

What you need to tell them you want is:
24x36 engineer prints
Note: engineer prints are always black and white!
Make sure the picture completely covers the 24x36. No white edges allowed!

Don't forget to buy some spray glue! DO NOT buy mod podge. It doesn't work. (I learned that the hard way.) I used Scotch brand spray adhesive.

Your next step will be to lay out the foam board and figure out where you want to place your picture on the board. Make sure you let at least an inch or two left over on each side, top, and bottom.  This will allow you to wrap it around the foam board later.

My advice would be to spray 6 inches at a time to reduce bubbles. I started with the bottom then pushed from the middle out.

Once you have done this, turn the picture upside down so that the picture is facing down. From here you are going to wrap the picture around the foam board as if you were wrapping a present.

Fold the bottom and top up first. When you get to the sides crease the overlapping picture straight then fold the corner in.

After this spray glue the sides and you are all done with your picture.

To hang these, I used 3M Command Mounting Strips. I used 2 for each picture, one on each side!

Alright! Your turn!

Good luck and happy crafting!

Cruisin'

One of my best friends is getting married so in getting married style we had to have the bachelorette party. Her and her fiancé met on a cruise ship while both working, so going on a cruise was very fitting!  We took a short little 3 day (booze) cruise.  It was a lot of fun, my first time on ship/cruise, and I'm glad it's over.....wedding time!  Brandon had the kids all weekend and did an amazing daddy daycare job, even with activities and sports and all! He's super dad in my eyes!

Weekend project

I have had this vintage window frame for quite some time now.   I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it but have received lots of opinions and feedback on how to mount the picture. I had heard mount the picture on something sturdy before stapling it to the window, cut the picture into 6 boxes and have it touch the glass since there's a gap in the back, or my original and easy idea of just stapling the picture to the back of the window.  That is exactly what I did and it was the easiest thing ever. I cannot believe I waited so long to get it on and up!  I am completely obsessed with it and finally have a wedding picture up in our house. On to the next project......

Tour de Zeke's Room

We have been working on Zeke's room for what seems like forever. We painted and set up his big boy bed tons of blog posts ago.  His room is now presentable. I say presentable because we still have some things we would like to do, add, and buy!   We decided on a vintage vehicle theme. It went from vintage cars to vintage vehicles because, of course, the themes I choose are not so popular.  I found a vintage car print I liked on etsy but everyone said the fabric was too hard to make as sheets or the cut they had wasn't long enough for a full size bed. After all that I thought going with solid colors would be a great idea. I ordered a duvet cover, pillow shams, a bed skirt, and a blanket from Restoration Hardware. I got them home, put them on the bed with some navy blue sheets and thought "eh"!!! I kept it up for awhile but hated it!!! It was so boring, the down comforter wouldn't stay in place in the duvet cover, and it was so heavy and hard Zeke didn't want to ...
