Baby Zoie and Mama's Baby Shower

This weekend was just fabulous! My mom threw an amazing and all out baby shower for this already spoiled baby girl in my belly!  When we first thought about the theme of the shower, we thought it would only be fitting to go along with the room theme which is very light pastel colors inspired by a couple vintage Barbie pictures I found (more on that later). After much deliberation, we decided to go with a more bold vintage Barbie theme with the colors being black, pink and white with a lot of Barbie silhouettes.  After a million trips to Target, Home Goods, Ikea, Etsy, Tai Pan, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby we had a nice stock pile to start the decorating and planning.  My mom decided to pretty much redecorate her house from floor to ceiling starting with drapery.  She switched out her current drapes for some black and white striped fabric. You would not believe how great the fabric looked without even being sewed!!!! They looked like they belonged.  She also changed...

Auntie to the 5th power!

My sister Brittney has officially made me an auntie to 5 nieces and nephews, 2 of which are hers. After talking about being envious of her sister in law getting induced, I get a text message saying she is going in to deliver too.  I definitely thought this would be a long labor since her last one was. I went along with our normal morning routine then headed to the hospital. Well thankfully, I got there in the nick of time and was able to see my niece minutes after she was born.  Kennedy Lynn!!!!

Big Boy Bed

At the ripe age of 2, I'm sure we are in the same boat as many other parents when we are thinking of getting these toddlers out of those cribs (or our bed in our case) and into their very own Big Boy Bed! We drug our feet a little on this. I'm not going to lie, cuddling with your baby every night is pretty awesome. I do partially blame us, but it's time to put our foot down.  We started working on the nursery, which also meant we were working on Zeke's new big boy bed and new room. Yes, he switched rooms. We decided on vintage cars and it has now turned in to vintage transportation to include cars, planes, trains, gas stations, etc.  My mom and I made a ridiculously huge mess painting one Friday night without laying down a tarp thing. Oops! White carpets are supposed to have blue spots all over them, right? Brandon was not too happy with us! After the paint dried and the carpets were cleaned it was time to set up the big boy bed. We had a really difficult time deciding ...

Super Bowl XLVIII

To say I was excited for this game is definitely an understatement! I mean my team hasn't been in the Super Bowl in over a decade!  Our friends were having a party, but they are Seattle Seahawks fans so I just couldn't do it. Instead we stayed home and had Denver Broncos fans over to watch the game.  We did some festive football food and definitely didn't forget about the beer. I  put together a cute little taco bar that was a huge hit. It was a great game.......until it started! And I'll leave it at that. Next year is ours!

Illinois visitors

My grandparents and cousin came out to celebrate with us for Zeke's birthday.  Boy was that fun! We really appreciate them coming for such big events for us. Every time they come we try to do something fun and different that is unique to California and this trip was no different. Every day was planned! Pregnant, planning a birthday, and having fun wears me out just saying it. We did some wine tasting (well I didn't, they did...jealous!), took a trip to Beverly Hills, went down to San Diego, and even had a little backyard BBQ!

Zeke turns 2!

I want to cry a little bit at the fact that my baby is 2!  This little boy has stolen our hearts! He is hilarious, entertaining, and just the cutest, most lovable (when he wants to be), photogenic person I know.....and he's two! And getting so big! And becoming independent! And ahhhhh I could go on and on about his amazingness, but I'll stop there! If you know him you already know. Since Zeke's birthday fell on a Saturday this year, we were able to have his party on the same day! So cool, even though he wouldn't be getting multiple ce lebrations like last year or the years to come.  This year his birthday theme was construction/Tonka trucks.  To say I started planning early is an understatement. I knew this was going to be the theme to his 2nd birthday before I started planning his first birthday! I know I'm nuts! I started buying stuff last Christmas and haven't stopped.  Here's a peek at the party and some of the details! I thought it turned out great!  Ze...

If you're going to San Francisco

(Singing voice)..... Could be scary if you knew how well I sang! Anyways, work sent us to San Francisco for our National Sales meeting so I thought it would be a great chance for me and Brandon to take advantage of one free flight. I was there Monday through Friday and Brandon flew in early Friday afternoon to start and finish the weekend.  We are so happy we did this. It was the first time we left Zeke for a weekend for just us!!!! While there for work, we had a couple opportunities to explore the city at night. We decided to go to the Beach Blanket Babylon show. BEST IDEA EVER! If you ever get the chance to go I highly recommend it. It was hilarious, entertaining, relatable to all ages, and pretty incredible with every seat being a great seat.  Once the work events were over, Brandon and I switched to a nicer hotel and got to exploring the city.  Since Brandon is from New England, we had to get some clam chowder. We also explored Alcatraz, rode the trolley everywhere, w...

.....2014

Wow! I cannot believe 2014 is here and 2013 is gone.  There is so much to look back on and even more to look forward to.  December was a crazy month for us with almost every day booked with something festive, fun, and celebratory. I am hoping for things to slow down a bit, but not quite sure that is gonna happen with Zeke's 2nd birthday at the end of the month.  Let's recap December: Old Town Christmas parade  Zeke and friends meet Santa  Gender reveal party....it's a girl! Zeke's polar express party at school  Kirk Klan 4th annual ugly sweater party  Mom's 50th birthday (she still looks 30) "Beautiful light" watching (those are Zeke's words. He was obsessed. And since we don't drive often at night, he thought the stop lights were Christmas lights for a while there. Ha! Entertaining for sure) Christmas Eve with the pajama elves and all Christmas morning  New Years Eve  Whewwww! On to the birthday planning!
